Jason Atherton has the star – and Berner’s Tavern is the star! Set in the London Edition Hotel offset from the trendy bar and reception, this is where gallery meets fine dining, in a majestic space, walls adorned with art, busy pinny-clad staff busy… The broadsheet menu covers cocktails, Champagnes and the main event… Atherton’s classic menu; crispy duck egg, spelt and pearl barley risotto – perfection, chicken schnitzel, fried Heritage Breed egg, capers, anchovies – the menu is diverse and we love to see the lesser-spotted schnitzel – chateaubriand for two – and the bitter chocolate mousse with mint gel… Atherton spreads himself thinly – his smoked bone marrow butter makes more of an appearance – but what he touches turns to nuggets of gold and none more so than in this tavern…
