  Residential Care Home, from Home
It’s that heart breaking moment when you know that your loved one needs more care than can be offered at home!
To repair that broken heart you need a care team that
is in your corner, an honest team and one that you can trust – and as if you didn’t already know, residential care is a minefield, and it would be fair to say that everything that glitters isn’t gold! So it is essential to take your time in choosing a home that suits the medical, mental and physical needs of your beloved, alongside location and accessibility for family of course. And it’s really smart to ask to speak to relatives of residents in the home before committing – and nothing if not smart, here I am to tell you about Lilliput House!
For those living in the South, or indeed further afield, Lilliput House is a shining light amongst some darker Dorset offerings.
Lilliput House is a real home, it feels like home, and everyone cares, they really care! From initial contact and assessments by the inimitable management team of Rosie Hanmer and Laura Fisher you know you have a professional and strong army on your side, they take away the stress of the unknown (as it is for many)
and critically they take responsibility. They explain, they connect with your loved one and embrace the opportunity of looking after them, and loving them.
Further to this the team is constant, day in, day out, and every carer, (who we now call friends), learns the nuances and needs of each resident. They are there not only for the residents, but for the families too. It’s most reassuring.
The catering is exceptional; breakfasts of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and toast with fresh tea in the room – yes, residents can choose where they dine and relatives are welcome to join, perhaps in the large bright dining room (which has access into the bright and sheltered central courtyard and fish ponds).
After breakfast there is always a puzzle, flower arranging, dominoes or painting awaiting! Each week the hairdresser visits – everyone is always looking comfortable, happy and stimulated.
Colourful, nutritious lunches with fresh vegetables and salads are in abundance and include shepherd’s pie, chicken Kiev, salads, soups, curries, Friday fish and chips, Sunday roasts and wonderful desserts.
Then to the afternoons! There is live entertainment
